Sector Marketing was appointed by the Italian Trade Commission in September 2010 to undertake lead generation, audience recruitment and deliver a meetings programme for 2 trade missions for the Clean Technology Desk. One mission was outward to the New York area, and the other an inward mission for US companies to visit Tuscany in Italy. The missions were primarily trade focused with a secondary objective of inward investment.
Lombardy Trade Mission to the New York area
Sector supported 5 Cleantech companies from Lombardy on the US mission, who travelled to the New York area as part of a larger delegation from multiple industries visiting US regions (ie. West Coast, Mid-West and East Coast). The 5 companies we supported supplied products and services to the renewable energy sector and were looking to identify new US technology to bring back to Italy. One solar panel manufacturer was interested in finding a US distributor. The mission was highly successful- Sector organised and managed 4-6 meetings in the greater NYC region for each of the 5 companies we supported, including one-on-one meetings, a speed dating meeting, and meetings at a renewable energy tradeshow in NYC.
Tuscany Trade Mission
Lead generation programme involving attracting and managing a dozen US cleantech companies to travel to Florence for a 3 day seminar and company meetings program. The mission involved match-making for 20+ Tuscan Cleantech companies all arriving at a conference site in Florence with a dozen US Cleantech companies with the emphasis on solar, hydrogen and Biofuel companies. Sector researched potential US firms and extended invitations to attend the Tuscan seminar and match-making mission on behalf of the ITC. Potential companies were identified through their propensity to find an Italian partner, a licensee, a R&D or technology transfer partner, or expand into Europe/Italy (a combination of trade & investment interest). In addition to lead generation we supported the logistics for the mission on the US side, working with companies to organise and manage their travel and hospitality arrangements. The mission was highly successful, with 21 US Cleantech companies visiting Tuscany in October 2010 to attend the seminar and meetings programmes. |
